Baudin Backyard for Butterflies, Bees, and Birds

This client wanted to turn their smaller Mid-City backyard into a verdant space that would invite butterflies, bees, and birds.

Starting with a nearly blank slate (other than a gingko tree), I created garden beds on either side of the path and lined them with bricks found in the yard. To take advantage of the space I built a wire trellis in front of the back shed wall and planted passion vine to add dimension.

Filling the containers I used a banana plant and bird of paradise to feel surrounded by greenery. Alyssum and zinnias were planted in the containers with them to add color.

The result — an eclectic and colorful garden with something growing everywhere you look.
